PGFD Holds "Rookie School" A one day rookie class was held in March for our newest members. Sugarland Fire Department was kind enought to assist and brought Ladder 4 to help with the Ladder Operations portion of the class.
Thanks to those of you who stopped by and watched Ladder 4 fully extend accross Pitts and watch our Rookie Fire Fighters climb up and down; it was quite a sight to see and a thrill for the kids. Congratulations to our Rookies for sucessfully completing the classes!

The new group represents the PGVFD Response District and consists of one (1) resident from the CIA, one (1) resident from Waterside Estates, one (1) resident from the HOA and two (2) residents from the POA. • Service Change Notice: As of 12/31/08 Pecan Lakes will no longer be serviced by PGFD.
  • PGFD was well prepared for Ike. As the driving rain and fierce winds slammed the Pecan Grove area, responders answered the calls without delay. In preparation for hurricane Ike, Chief LeDoux had 9 Fire Fighters and EMT’s at the Station and 5 in the neighborhood to respond to calls from Friday to Tuesday. We responded to 45 calls, a Mutual Aid call for Sugarland and another Mutual Aid call for Richmond. The station’s dispatch office and telephones were manned 24/7 as well. Thanks to an EMT Volunteer from Community Fire Department a high water rescue vehicle was on hand in case of flooding. As soon as day broke the houses and businesses within the PGFD’s coverage were checked for the residents’ welfare and any hazardous conditions or structure damage on the property. Roads were also cleared of trees to insure a safe exit route for all residents in all the neighborhoods covered. "We planned well in advance for the worst case scenario; our committed Volunteers and dedicated Staff Members came through once again for the Pecan Grove community. Residents were never left stranded, although at times conditions were severe; every call was answered, we are proud to serve our neighbors. With proper planning and support from our Volunteers and Staff members, we were able to respond to every call without delay and clear safety hazards in our coverage area.” commented Chief LeDoux.
